Maine’s biomedical research community celebrated a $19.4 million grant from the National Institute of Health. The grant funds the renewal of the Maine IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (Maine INBRE) program, a collaboration among seventeen educational and research institutions, including Bowdoin College. -

Bowdoin Announces Four Appointments to New Chairs Honoring Distinguished Black Graduates
Bowdoin has appointed a cohort of four accomplished scholars to new endowed faculty professorships honoring distinguished Black graduates of the College. These new positions, which are fully funded by donors, will focus on the interdisciplinary study of race, racism, and racial justice and across themes of environmental justice and belonging, citizenship, and freedom. -
Schiller Coastal Studies Center Hosts Open House
A steady November rain couldn’t deter more than sixty-five hardy Mainers from attending an open house at the Schiller Coastal Studies Center on November 13. The first such event in the new facilities on Orrs Island attracted neighbors, potential students and families, and Bowdoin alumni, staff, and faculty. -

Anthony Yanez ’22 Receives Goldwater Scholarship for Science
This year the Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation, established by Congress in 1986, awarded 409 scholarships to college sophomores and juniors who show exceptional promise in the natural sciences, mathematics, and engineering. -
